Thinking about what it means to be local. How not owning a car makes my world so very local. How this shapes who I am. Mostly I move within a range of 4 miles. Unusual for the culture I live in.
I think about the permaculture idea of zones. From Gaia's Garden by Toby Hemenway:
"Zones help us organize the elements and the energy flow of our property in the right relationships, allowing us to weave order according to how often we use or need to care for something. Zones are based on dynamic relationships."
One of the chickens is molting (Henny-Penny to be precise). Loosing her feathers and regrowing new ones.
Chickens don't lay eggs during this time.
Seems wise moving into fall.
