This weekend was all about rain. This might be crazy to some, but by August I'm usually longing for a little rain. so it was just right.
Sunday afternoon it started to clear up so I was able to get out and pick a few things. A few blueberries, my first zucchini, some yellow transparent apples, a few more raspberries. I also picked the shelling beans. It was more like rescuing what was left by the slugs than harvesting though.
Also found the first red tomatoes. They look a little sad. Lots of green tomatoes. More 80 degree weather on the way, so maybe they'll start ripening.
The sweet potatoes are looking really good. They are starting to creep out over the edges of their planters. Sometimes it's so hard to wait.
And then there is the bindweed. There is bindweed everywhere. It feels like it's going to take a whole weekend to get rid of it. I promised myself this was the year I would stay on top of pulling weeds. Life happened and they got ahead of me. I guess there is always next year....
