My dictionary defines intersections as a place where areas overlap or cut across each other. To me intersections are places where we might meet, where choices need to be made or compromises might be reached, where we go forward or where we might turn around. Some intersections are uncontrolled, some leave us no choices, some are round-abouts where we might drive in circles. Something that I didn't know until I did a little research is that an intersection is also a method of navigation/surveying. In a more creative sense, I think there are intersections in other areas too. It's an idea I want to exlore in the next year.
I started with a sewing project I've been wanting to do for awhile. I wove strips of fabric together and then stitched them down. I will make it into a pillow tomorrow. Some questions I asked and the answers I can up with:
What if I just reach into the stash and grab some fabric? Will they work together? Yep.
What if I tear them rather than cut? It's much more fun.
What if I use the sewing machine to sew them together? Nope, too hard to pick up and not have it fall apart and I don't have any pins for basting.
What if I use than vintage silk thread to sew it together (I've read that it isn't the best practice to use it as it isn't very strong)? Worst case senario is that it will fall apart. The shine is beautiful. I realized that the stitches are another layer of the weaving.
What if I sew with the machine now? Nope, looks really wrong. Just ended up sewing the edges down.
What if I try stitching with some yarn? Looks good but not quite mine yet.
What if I try some french knots? Good, but not it.
What if I try needle felting yarn across the surface. Love it and makes it mine.
Do I like the intersections that were created? Yep.
