This time of year is the hardest time to find local foods. The last two years I have frozen, canned and dried enough to have local foods to eat until there are a few more fresh options (I can get lettuce mix, mushrooms, pears, apples, potatoes and onions at the moment.)
I'm working on clearing out some of the frozen blueberries. I sauteed a handful in some butter with a sprinkle of sugar and then put it on top of my homemade honey ice cream. Everything but the sugar was local.
This works very well with apples, pears, raspberries and blackberries too.
