This is the time of year when I keep a big batch of crumble topping on hand in the freezer.
A bit of fruit on the bottom (in this case apricots, raspberries and blueberries) and a handful of topping on top.
And continuing to build layers on a photo:
The top layer is twilight blue indigo from the fermentation vat.
Just a couple quick dips to see if it was still working.

This morning I've been listening to an interview with David Montgomery as I was knitting...
and suddenly there was the connection of what I was making as layers with a history. Like sediment settling. Of a connection with geology and fossils. Of floods of color and mountains rising. Of time lines.
And thinking of how fabric is layered to tell a story
The bottom layer of one of my blankets.
And layers of photos.
How layers create story.
This is how my mind works.
1. Make applesauce and grate and dry the apples I picked.
2. Finish the hem on the top that I made to wear to a wedding...that is tomorrow. 3. Go to wedding.
The top is made from cotton lawn. This is is the first time I've sewn something with it and I just love how light and breezy it is, even with two layers (one for the right side and one for lining).
4. An added layer...for the next week I'm going to try to add one layer or alter something on this image each day, maybe longer if there is space.
