The best time of day right now (for me) is from about 5:00 to 9:00 AM.
That's the best time to work in the garden.
And then in the afternoon or evening, time to sit in the shade and do something like crochet...

field notes for the solstice
I've spent a lot of time watching the comings and goings at the butterfly bush this weekend. Swallowtail butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Haven't been able to take a picture of the hummingbirds. They don't like it when I get to close.
Luckily there is a window right in front of the butterfly bush.
Thursday evening one of the hummingbirds paused for a few moments to look the window. I suspect to check out reflections but it seemed as if she was stopping to say hello.
Not much making this week. I called this scarf done on Wednesday.
It makes a wonderful headband.
So much going on in the garden right now. Always something to discover.
Another couple weeks and there won't be anywhere to walk in here.

connections
A corner of the garden.
The pink is a hardy geranium that grows like a weed. I tend to think of it as a binder in the garden, holding areas together, creating connections.
This week one of our local newspapers had an interview with David Suzuki. I especially liked this part:
"We live in a world where everything is connected to everything else...So whatever we do, from the food we eat, to the products we buy, use and throw away, has repercussions. And so the way we live carries huge responsibilities. Freedom carries with it responsibility and we are not isolated from everything else. We are exquisitely connected."
And
"We can all be part of something that can grow into a movement. What matters is, we try."
Harvested from the garden today.
Banana fiber yarn dyed with the leaves from an apple tree.
Tomatoes from the farmer's market. I suspect I will have my own by the 4th of July.
