I love going to the farmer's market. The colors, smells, textures. People watching. Everything about it.
When it is open, it's where I buy most of my food.
(The economics and ethics of this is a whole other post.)
I've missed the first two and will probably miss a few more. A month ago I decided one way that I could support at least one local farm was to purchase a CSA.
The first box arrived today.
Ingredients from the box: potatoes, mustard greens, pea sprouts, and sunflower shoots.
Other ingredients: smoked salmon, hazelnuts and a dressing made with homemade honey mustard, olive oil and cream.
There is always the garden.
More vegetable love.
The zucchini has sprouted, also a few pumpkins I planted.
Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be back to going to the farmer's market, but for now this is enough.
As is the flowers from the garden...
The background is part of a board with a collection of things I love. It includes me-made things, mom-made things, beeswax ornaments from the farmer's market, a print that a family friend made of the front of what was my grandparent's grocery store and something from Jude.
Love.
