#90 self portrait

I found a box of old journals. 

Read through the one I wrote when I was 17-18 years old.

Cut it up.

Reassembled it.

Thinking about how some things don't change.

And some do.

#89 the letter p

Peach rose:

Really, it is the only fussy rose I grow.

Today's harvest: potatoes, peas, blueberries, and raspberries.

Plenty for dinner.

#88 survive

I love how plants will grow in cracks.

If it's still there on Monday I am going to see if I can transplant it to my garden.

Someone will call it "weed" where it is growing and it won't survive.

One edge is not equal to the other yet.

I don't think there is a stitch I like more than back stitch...

#85 less than

I was thinking... less than 5 minutes can keep a project going.

And then you stop, and look, and can spend a lot more than 5 minutes considering whether what you were going to do is what you still want to do.

The indigo fabric was dyed by someone my Mom and Dad know.  I was going to use it for the border on a top but that left piece...there is an eye there. 

And maybe it can just be a secret eye, looking out at the world.

#84 one egg

Mom and Dad brought me an egg.

Their chickens are younger than mine.

One egg + 1/4 cup flour + 1/4 cup milk + a pinch of salt + a pinch of sugar.

And strawberries and whipped cream.

#83 tension

Mixing wool and silk.

Held together.

Under tension.

One of the things I like about spinning yarn is that it is about balance. 

The tension needs to be not too tight and not too loose.

Spent a few hours with family today. 

Watched a Douglas squirrel peeling bark off a tree and packing it in it's mouth.  He/she did this several times.

There was a blue heron, ducks, a pair of geese,

a swallow skimming over the water...

#82 pizza night

I'm as happy with my homemade pizza as any I can buy here locally. 

It's the company I miss... 

Toppings:  potatoes, celery leaf, garlic salt and Scamorza cheese.

#81 field note blanket

I've been away from this project. 

Pink for roses or sweet peas.

It could have been brown and white for the pair of osprey perched in a couple of trees across from my house.

(One is on the branch that reaches out the farthest at the top of the tree, left side.  It was the cry that caught my attention.)

Or the baby bunnies that a coworker and I rescued from a tangle of plastic mesh.
