#24 name things

I am using a little book I made with scrap paper, tulip petals, onion skin, and rose leaves to collect words.

I love finding shapes in the random prints.

Some I've outlined, others I've left but imagine what might be there.

There are two purposeful images, the rose leaf and a heart I cut from the onion shell.

The words so far: fragile, complicated, solitude, portal, resilient, resist, empathy, care-giving, gentle, exhaustion, permeable, pollinate, division, mask, vent, wait, community, sing (NPR community choir), migrate, sanctuary, and transform.

 

#23 feather the nest

I got a "bee in my bonnet" (Which is better than "bats in the belfry" I think?) and decided to move one of my bookcases from the back room to the living room.

I found things... like The Dictionary of Cliches by James Rogers.

 

More furniture was moved.

Things were sorted.

Widget is disturbed.

"That's the way the cookie crumbles," I guess.

There was flat bread for lunch.

Only change I made to the recipe was substituting wheat flour for the oat.

The spread was made of walnuts, re-hydrated tomatoes, the last asparagus from the garden, some oregano and olive oil.

I could eat this "until the cows come home."

I printed this one, the one below, and then took another picture. I've lost track of the layers...

#19 exhausted?

I can't decide whether my indigo vat is exhausted or not. 

The other day it looked like this after it was stirred.

This morning I opened it and it bubbled. Something is fermenting. It didn't foam when I stirred it.

Hmm.

And

It is exhausting having to have an opinion.

Just saying.

I wanted to put speech bubbles with these but didn't get there...

and then for some reason the Talking Heads "Once in a Life Time came to mind."

The moon is a threadcrumb.

 

#16 eat it with pasta

Yesterday there was this:

Spinach with spices (turmeric, cumin, pepper, ginger), buttermilk, re-hydrated tomatoes, carrots and peppers and paneer cooked with garlic salt.

It's a favorite.

I had a bit more spinach than I wanted to eat for one meal so some was set aside.

Kind of like pesto...

Yes I like to almost burn my paneer.

 

 

#15 take notes

Mostly the day was spent outside.

Perfect weather: 60-65 F, a breeze.

Checked the plum trees, no plums this year.

Checked the grapes, yes there will be grapes.

Went to prune the cherry that has never set more than 5 or 6 fruits in maybe 10 years? If I can beat the birds to them, I should have a nice basket of sweet cherries.

Several times a pair of osprey flew over. I am learning the call they make and have learned to look up.

Checked the back fence: Stanwell's Perpetual and golden hops. Also blackberries that need to be pruned.

I planted the darkest of tulips for a dye material. They will be bundled up on paper tomorrow. 

Maybe a few on some fabric that has been soaked in sumac.
