#49 always have something to read

I have three bookshelves

and stacks of books

and boxes full of books...

I never read just one book at a time, and rarely read one book from start to finish without reading another book in between. 

Checking out books from the library causes me to buy more books than I probably would if I didn't check out books.

I reread books frequently too.  Sometimes just chapters or sections, other times the whole book. 

This selection (for Nancy so she can look closer) is made up of books that I reread often, books that are in the process of being read, ones that I am thinking about or that I want to read sooner rather than later. 

 

#48 eat a popsicle for breakfast

When it's 68 degrees/84%humidity at 7 AM a popsicle (frozen fruit snack?) is a great breakfast choice. Pretty sure it was warmer in the house...it takes awhile to cool down from a record high of 99 degrees F.  Not the hottest weather but warmer than I've experienced for awhile. 

Strawberry/Rhubarb compote, a peach, white grape juice a few diced strawberries.

Next up, watermelon?

Cool clothes...embracing the mismatched look.

#47 bind a book

I cut apart one of the cyanotypes to use as a cover for the book I've been making.

Still working on captions.

#46 put some fruit in the salad

Baby greens, carrots, cucumber, blueberries, goat cheese, and oil and vinegar.

Flat bread, fava bean spread, peaches, cherries, cheese, and chicken from the grocery store.

About 95% local...it's easy this time of year.

#45 document

Out in the garden I noticed a bald eagle, blue heron, and the first swallowtail sighting of the year.

Watered everything well in preparation for 90+ temps.

Granola. I have some in jars so I can top with yogurt and fruit and take it to go...

The hardest part about granola is not burning it.

Some days I've topped it with rhubarb-strawberry compote.

Other days berries picked fresh from the garden.

#42 dye it

This is the 3rd dip. 

1. Sumac

It makes me think of pollen.

Fabric: cotton.

Project: pants.

Considering another dip.

 

#41 smell the roses

But watch for the bees.

Spent several hours in the garden this morning. 

The only butterfly I found today was this one...

I wanted the top wings to stand out more so I added a silk layer. 

Deb Lacativa dyed fabric for the base and some of the thread, onion skin dyed silk, and lessons learned from Jude being put to work.

A very subtle addition of a stripe.  I also added a filter that changed the tone just a bit.

The combination of baby photo and claim check made me smile. 

 

I was in a bit of a mood today, not liking what I was making. And then I found this quote that I had stashed away...
