There are flowers
First of the year tomatoes.
And opening up bags of ladybugs with three and four year olds.
I shared this with two groups and was told by at least two children to be careful with the scissors so that I didn't cut the ladybugs...future caregivers of the world!
Still working on the insomnia blanket as well.

I have always found peace in repetition, always been amazed at how something small can grow and become larger.
Still working on the squares for GOOD enough COVID 19.
Thinking a lot about what stories we will tell about the last year and a half.
On a personal level my experience of COVID has been much better than many, on a work level it's been the hardest year ever.
Last week the guideline for wearing masks outside was lifted for childcare centers. To see everyone's faces was amazing. We are still required to wear masks inside.
Going into the grocery store about half the people here are wearing masks. After a few weeks of having the "masks required" mandate lifted, it seems less strange to see others without masks, but there is an awkwardness at times too. Someone who has recently moved to the area told me that where they came from it was common for anyone vaccinated to sign the letter "v" on their shoulder to others if they wanted to signal to others their status.
I had lunch with a friend for the first time in over a year. She lives less that 4 miles away from me and I have known her for over 30 years. We sat together at a table inside of a restaurant and talked for 3 hours....
It was good, very good.
A few more new things for the wardrobe. Two more versions of the top from The Act of Sewing by Sonya Philip. These were both made from the top pattern.
Fabric: Cotton voile
Construction notes: Ruching on the shoulders with elastic. It gathers up the fabric to create a ruffle.
Thoughts: Supper comfortable to wear on a hot day. I added the ruching as an afterthought. It made the shirt fit better.
Fabric: Cotton knit
Construction Notes: Cut two of the back pattern pieces to have a shallower neckline, otherwise the neck opening can be too big.
Thoughts: A knit fabric drapes well and is flattering.
Notes to self: Remember to use clothes pins when hanging this shirt to dry.

Thinking about the story a wooden spoon, homemade apricot jam and a dress might tell.
Fabric: rayon
Pattern: Top and skirt from The Act of Sewing by Sonya Philip. I overlapped the two patterns to make a dress.
It swirls in the breeze.
I can't help but think of a dance.
An experiment with taking photos with a longer exposure time...it made the fan blades disappear and created the soft ring of light around the top of the fan.
I am half way through my goal of 100 posts. I haven't quite managed to do them consecutively but am okay with this. Part of the goal has been to consider care giving, mending, and resilience.
And that means sometimes it is necessary to hit the "pause button."
