This morning's project: a row or two on the sleeve of my sweater while completing a required training for work. I am happy to say that I can safely prepare food and serve it to people now.
This weekend I decided to try something new.
I've read that the best way to store cooked potatoes in the freezer is as mashed potatoes with lots of cream/butter. The fat is supposed to preserve the quality of the potatoes. Since my storage potatoes are starting to sprout I thought why not try it?
Freezing as individual portions is helpful. I will transfer the last batch of potatoes from the muffin tin to a bag for storage this morning.
Some of the potatoes went here...
Pizza with mashed potatoes + blue cheese + walnuts + scamorza
It will be on the menu again in a couple weeks to test the frozen mashed potatoes.
Also because I really like it.
Another experiment that has turned out well is dehydrating applesauce. I dried it in little 1-2 inch rounds, really fruit leather. Drop a few in the water with oatmeal, cook and ta-da, apple flavored oatmeal!
Topped with walnuts and maple syrup this morning.
Usually I add a little cream too.
The cats have learned good things come in bowls.
