Crayon making!
These are a combination of what I made today and from the last time that I made crayons.
The last batch was made with bees wax, today's with soy wax. I would rather use the bees wax but have to admit that the soy wax makes a crayon that is much easier to use.
The blue is indigo that I strained from an exhausted vat, the yellow onion lake pigment and the pink avocado lake pigment. On the far right I painted avocado ink over the crayon. There is also a dot of the ink below the crayon sample.
Of everything that I have made with avocado pits, I like the ink the best.
Things learned today:
-Be generous with the pigment in the crayons. It took more than I thought it would.
-Make sure the pigment is ground really fine unless you want a chunky texture.
